Lab.Report . May 2008

Our big news for May is that the 2008 Conflux Festival Call for Proposals is now open! Submit your proposal before the May 31 deadline and see ya in September. Speaking of Conflux, past festival artist Bettina Johae has a beautiful new website documenting her Borough Edges project, which is also featured in the “Eminent Domain” exhibition at the NYPL. Glowlab artist Heather L. Johnson recently shared her skills to create a special embroidered piece for Scope Basel. Beka Goedde’s work was reviewed by James Wagner this week. Current events we like: Tom Sachs at Sperone Westwater [the concurrent installation at Lever House is great too; see the NY Times review of both shows.] Leo Kesting Gallery collaborates with artist Julia Mandle and Friends of the High Line to present Chalk Shoes opening May 15. The Institute for Infinitely Small Things get their lab coats on for a show at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA opening May 15. May 17-18 check out Electric Windows in Beacon, NY. The CLUI exhibition “Up River” is on view at The Parc Foundation through June 14. p.s. Our two favorite books right now: Chris Carlsson’s Nowtopia and Pablo Helguera’s Manual of Contemporary Art Style.
